Winding down
July 31, 2009
The busiest part of my year – the ultimate summer job – is over. Our students have all gone home to sleep until school starts, or to march in band practice all day, to spend time with their families and lament the passing of summer camp on Facebook (which warms my heart).
Our summer vacation starts next week. A long-awaited visit to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello will break up a very long drive. Maira Kalman knows why.

We were at Monticello on May 8. We were on our way to Virginia Beach and made a planned stop at Monticello. We’ve been there before and decided to just do two grounds tours instead of going through the house. I’ve got some pictures up on Flickr that I took that day.
Have a great trip!
Ah, you’ll finally get to see in person this mythical place that caused so much fuss our third semester of undergrad.
Monticello is only 2 and a half hours from us! But how is it that my family’s beach trip always coincides perfectly with your passing through our part of the country? Boo.
I hope you have a good trip!
I am glad you are finally getting a break! Y’all deserve it!!!
Oh, I love those Maira Kalman things! (“Good old Jeff Levy” – LOL.)
Oops, I meant to add “Have a wonderful trip!”
