Under the weather

February 12, 2009

The family that sticks together gets sick together, too. Luckily we’ve taken turns (I’m last), and Jack got over it quickly and in good spirits, at least during daylight hours. Still, it’s another “baby’s first…” event that I will not be adding to a keepsake album.  Instead, I’ll add it to the list of inconveniences that become even less convenient when a 10-month-old is added to the mix (see heating problems; ice-induced power outages).

This has made it a hard but perfect time to consider, as I did after finding an insightful post at My Best Investments that parenting is not 50/50. (As the author points out, our efforts should actually add up to 200 percent). This is easy to see when one of us is literally taking care of the other two, and at worst we operate, single-engined, at 100 percent. And it works.

Sorry to hear your crew is sick. I hope everyone heals up quickly.

Thanks for the link, and thanks for referring to me as “author” of the post. You’re very generous. “Hack that wrote it” would probably be more fitting, but I’m not going to complain.

    Have a great weekend.
