On the road again

March 30, 2009

That’s how we spent the past two weekends, one in Texas and another in Little Rock. Jack enjoyed his inaugural front-facing ride to the Dallas area,

though he still prefers to be free of the 5-point harness.

Last weekend, he and I took our first out-of-town trip sans parent no. 2. We made it nearly three hours each way without any stops. In the interest of maintainig my chances for future social invitations, I even managed not to talk about the front-facing carseat development/ latest life-changing event the whole weekend.

On our way home from Texas, we saw some of the best sights eastern Oklahoma has to offer,

such as this giant resin peanut that delighted my brother-in-law. (Disclaimer: subsequent research revealed that this is not necessarily the world’s largest peanut, or even fake peanut – a bigger monument in Ashburn, Georgia takes the crown.) This is the stuff American roadtrip dreams are made of, right? I can’t imagine the disappointment we’d have known had we chosen the road more taken.

J is getting so big and grown up! It is hard to believe he will be a year old soon. Maybe for his second birthday you can take him to see the “Four Corners of the Midwest” monument in Southwest City, MO. Our students at that school rave about it…not.

I would like to have been there for the world’s largest peanut dedication. Amazing. And special. And Jack IS getting so big! Such a sweet little guy.

I love how Jack’s hair has the teensiest bit of curl to it! So cute! And I love your pink dress, which I’m thinking is J. Crew (not that I’ve been stalking it online or anything….).
